An 84-year-old man died after apparently being left inside a minibus in soaring heat in Tomares, near Seville in southwest Spain, as temperatures reached 32C (90F). Spanish police are investigating the death, with a Civil Guard source saying "all options" remain open, as the incident adds to a series of heat-related deaths involving people left inside vehicles across Europe this summer.

The vehicle, adapted for transporting elderly people, is believed to belong to a local retirement home, and the unnamed man is thought to have been inside for several hours before he was found on Friday, with heat exhaustion cited as a possible cause. Civil Guard officers are gathering witness statements and awaiting a post-mortem, due at Seville's Forensic Medicine Institute, before determining whether negligence occurred or arrests are warranted. The case follows several other heatwave deaths involving vehicles this summer, including two young brothers in Carpentras, France, an 18-month-old girl in Almada, Portugal, and a three-year-old boy in Linares, Spain, last year.
