Rupert Lowe, the Great Yarmouth MP and leader of Restore Britain, is on track to earn as much from posting on Elon Musk's X as from his parliamentary salary, with critics warning the platform is financially rewarding inflammatory content. His hourly earnings from X have more than doubled this year, coinciding with posts calling for mass deportations and criticising migrants and diversity policies, prompting concerns that a US billionaire's platform is effectively bankrolling a British politician whose views align with its owner's.

According to his declarations in the register of MPs' financial interests, Lowe earned £932 an hour from X since the start of 2026, rising to £1,476 an hour since June, up from £377 an hour on average last year. His total X income since the 2024 general election has passed £105,000, over half earned in the first eight months of this year alone, putting him on course to make roughly £93,000 in 2026 — close to the £98,599 MP salary. Lowe says he donates his net MP pay to local charities and denies being motivated by money, while researcher Ambrose Pym argues X's revenue-sharing scheme, which pays premium subscribers based on post engagement, is under-scrutinised as a source of politically aligned funding shaping UK discourse.
