BOSTON: 50th-Anniversary Edition Of Iconic Debut Album To Include Rare Original ‘Lost’ Demos
Tom Scholz, mastermind of the rock band Boston, has teamed up with Impex Records to release a definitive 50th-anniversary vinyl and SACD/Hybrid reissue of the group's self-titled 1976 debut album, tentatively scheduled for the second quarter of 2027. The album was a landmark release that helped define arena rock, becoming the best-selling debut album in history until 1986 and shaping FM radio culture for generations of musicians and listeners.
The reissue will feature previously unreleased "lost" demos that Scholz used to pitch the band to record labels before signing with Epic Records, restored and remastered with the help of Boston guitarist Gary Pihl. The original album spent 132 weeks on the Billboard 200, peaked at number three, and has since been certified double diamond by the RIAA, while its signature single "More Than a Feeling" reached number five on the Hot 100. Scholz is personally overseeing production of the anniversary edition to ensure an authentic presentation of the classic record.
