Elissa Slotkin calls out Hasan Piker for blaming Jewish Americans targeted over their Israel views

Fox News · 5 hours ago

Democratic Senators Elissa Slotkin and Jacky Rosen publicly condemned livestreamer Hasan Piker after he suggested that Jewish Americans would inevitably face violent consequences if they continued to be seen as uniquely supportive of Israel. Slotkin, seen as a possible 2028 presidential contender, said no community should face threats of violence for its political views, warning that blaming victims for the violence directed at them only puts people at greater risk. The rebuke is notable both for coming from within Piker's own party and for highlighting growing unease among Democrats about rhetoric they see as excusing antisemitic attacks.

Piker had told his audience that if American Jews kept asserting a singular investment in Israel, "someone is going to come around and take action… against American Jews." Slotkin linked the comments to a wider rise in political violence and antisemitism, citing a near-fatal antisemitic attack at Michigan's Temple Israel six months earlier. Rosen called the remarks "a new low," accusing Piker of trafficking in antisemitic tropes and providing cover for hate crimes. Michigan Senate hopeful Abdul El-Sayed, who had previously downplayed Piker's controversial comments, also distanced himself this time, while Piker's representatives did not respond to a request for comment.
