A father in Margate, Florida, has spoken publicly about the devastating moment his wife and two-year-old daughter were killed by a lightning strike, describing standing just feet away as they were struck down. Kameron Glasgow said he and his wife Kenya, 31, had been trying to get their twin daughters, Kennedi and Kensli, inside his aunt's house during a sudden storm when the strike hit, killing Kenya and Kennedi while Kensli, still in the car, was unharmed. The tragedy has drawn attention to the dangers of severe summer thunderstorms in Florida, which recorded its fourth lightning-related death of the year in this incident.

Emergency responders performed CPR on Kenya and Kennedi after finding them in the street, but both died shortly after reaching hospital. A neighbour, Prince Moody, described rushing to help after spotting the bodies from his window, calling the scene one he "never want[s] to see again." Data from the AccuLightning Network showed 120 lightning strikes within ten miles of Margate in a 30-minute window that Sunday afternoon, 84 of which hit the ground. Glasgow, visibly emotional at a news conference, said he intends to stay strong for his surviving daughter despite the immense loss.
