Barry Manilow has confirmed he is taking a break from touring after a run of cancelled shows, telling fans on social media that his recent schedule had proved too demanding despite a successful run of performances. The 83-year-old, who completed a UK arena tour in June including a show at London's O2 Arena, has faced repeated disruption to his US dates over the past year, most recently cancelling two shows at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino that had been due to take place on 21st and 22nd August.

Manilow said his summer tour of 29 shows in 68 days had gone well but that "we were pushing a little too hard," adding that he and his team now "need to sit down and shut up."
