Geese, the Brooklyn alt-rock band fronted by Cameron Winter, opened their end-of-summer UK and Ireland tour with a show in Glasgow, warming up for headline slots at Reading and Leeds festivals this weekend. The gig follows a breakout year for the group, driven by the acclaim for their third album, Getting Killed, and comes ahead of their previously confirmed headline appearance at End of the Road festival.

The Glasgow set, played to around 2,000 fans, opened with new track "Husbands" and mixed favourites such as "Crusades" with heavier cuts including "Islands of Men" and "Half Real", before closing with "Bow Down", "Au Pays du Cocaine" and "Taxes", plus an encore of "Trinidad". During "2122", Winter paused to play Dolly Parton's "Here You Come Again" on his phone, marking her death that day at the age of 80. The band now play a second Glasgow date before Reading (28 August) and Leeds (29 August), then Ireland's Electric Picnic (30 August) and two nights at London's Troxy, ahead of End of the Road; separately, it was announced Winter's Paul Thomas Anderson-directed concert film is set for US cinemas.
