A first-look reveal has been shared exclusively with Collider for "Kylgor in the Grisly Abyss", a puppet-based grimdark fantasy horror film ahead of its world premiere at Fantastic Fest 2026. Written and directed by Mason Newton-DeRushie, the project pairs a "Conan the Barbarian"-style adventure with a Muppets-esque puppet aesthetic, but leans heavily into gore and violence, marking a departure from family-friendly puppetry.

The film follows Kylgor and a band of surviving barbarians who avenge the slaughter of their people, ordered by the villainous King Kath, only to fall into a monster-filled underground abyss during their escape. Voice cast members Timothy Paul McCarthy (Kylgor) and Ry Barrett (Captain Sharr) both previously appeared in Chris Nash's "In a Violent Nature", with Barrett also set to return for its sequel. The film premieres at Fantastic Fest, running from 17 to 24 September 2026 at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar in Austin, Texas.
