KimStim has acquired North American rights to Katharina Rivilis’ debut feature, ‘I’ll Be Gone in June’, after its world premiere in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section. The deal positions the coming-of-age drama for a North American theatrical release in spring 2027, extending its international distribution following sales in several other territories.

Set in Las Cruces, New Mexico, around the September 11 attacks, the 125-minute English- and German-language film follows Franny, a 16-year-old German exchange student confronting loneliness and culture shock before forming a connection with a grieving local boy. Rivilis drew on her own exchange-student experience; the Germany-Switzerland-US production was produced by Léa Germain and Wim Wenders, among others, and stars Naomi Cosma, David Flores, Bianca Dumais and Rebecca Schulz.
