Mortal Shell 2’s Night Mode increases enemy health and damage, while also raising the Gloom earned from defeats. It matters because the harder setting unlocks exclusive locations, bosses, collectibles and a dungeon that are unavailable during normal play.

Revisiting Shell encounter areas grants extra Glimpses, while the Collector appears at the Abandoned Outpost Beacon and the Shrine of Sorrows gains a mushroom-accessed dungeon. Players can obtain the Seedbearer’s Scripture by offering the Thawed, Depleted and Faded Glands at the Forgotten Tower; the mode also unlocks the Gloomboom Ritualists boss at Revenant Graves, with three additional Glimpses. Clearing the new dungeon rewards a Blackmarrow Key and Touch of Noche, and its secrets include a Ventrium and a Dorsalite.
