Studiocanal has launched Studiocanal Classics, a global label intended to restore, curate and reissue films from its catalogue of more than 18,000 titles. The initiative matters because it expands the company’s effort to preserve classic cinema in 4K while bringing major older films back to cinemas and home formats for new audiences.

The launch slate includes restored editions of Michael Mann’s “Manhunter”, James Cameron’s “Terminator 2: Judgment Day”, Guillermo del Toro’s “Pan’s Labyrinth” and Ernst Lubitsch’s “To Be or Not to Be”, alongside a Jacques Tati retrospective. Studiocanal says it has invested about €25 million in restoring nearly 1,000 films over seven years; its forthcoming plans include a David Lynch collection, while the pre-release UK collector’s edition of “Manhunter” has already sold out.
