Say Hello To GTA 6’s Awesome New Dialogue System
Netflix footage of Grand Theft Auto 6 appears to show Rockstar introducing a more contextual dialogue system for protagonist interactions and non-player characters. Rather than using a prominent dialogue wheel, players are offered discreet response choices when near relevant characters, which could make Leonida feel more reactive and immersive than GTA 5’s largely scripted conversations.
Examples in the footage include Jason choosing how to approach a bouncer and deciding whether to scold, pet or study a dog. An alleged former audio worker claims NPCs have hundreds of thousands of lines recorded for different circumstances, with dialogue affected by factors such as fear, weather, time of day, clothing and player behaviour; these claims remain unverified, though the article says newer footage supports some of them. GTA 6 is due for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on 19 November.
