Rockstar Games has released an almost 27-minute extended preview of Grand Theft Auto VI, presenting the game in a highly cinematic style that resembles a prestige crime drama. The preview emphasises character, atmosphere and storytelling rather than a conventional uninterrupted gameplay demonstration, underscoring Rockstar’s attempt to make the long-awaited sequel feel as culturally significant as a major film or television release.

The game follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos as they commit crimes across Vice City, including robberies, shoot-outs and police pursuits, alongside quieter personal scenes. Preview coverage also points to a large map, a six-star Wanted system, more demanding car thefts and reactive non-player characters; GTA V has sold over 230 million copies in 13 years. The preview debuted on Netflix but is also being released on YouTube and Rockstar’s website, ahead of GTA VI’s planned launch on 19 November.

  • GTA VI’s lengthy preview prioritises cinematic storytelling and atmosphere.
  • Jason and Lucia lead the game’s Vice City crime story.
