Millions of Aussies to get a Centrelink cash boost within weeks as payments rise

Millions of Australians receiving Centrelink support will receive higher payments from 20 September under the government’s twice-yearly indexation process. The rises are intended to help welfare recipients manage inflation and higher living costs, including rent, food and household bills.

The maximum JobSeeker rate for a single person without children will increase by A$16.20 to A$833.70 per fortnight, while the rate for a single parent with dependent children will rise by A$17.30 to A$892.80. ABSTUDY will also increase by A$16.20 per fortnight, Youth Allowance by A$20.90 to A$1,068.20, and the maximum Rent Assistance payment will rise from 1 September by 2 per cent, from A$219.40 to A$223.80 per fortnight.
