The 31st Busan International Film Festival has announced its Carte Blanche programme, in which Fan Bingbing, Kim Jeewoon and Hong Kyung-pyo will present films that influenced them and discuss the choices with audiences. The festival has also expanded its Busan Story Market with new Hong Kong intellectual property selections and a Thai-focused remake rights section, underlining its role as both a cultural event and a business platform for Asian screen content.

Fan selected Park Chan-wook’s “The Handmaiden”, Kim chose George Miller’s “Mad Max”, and Hong picked Krzysztof Kieslowski’s “Three Colours: Blue”. The Story Market now has 29 official selections after adding four Hong Kong projects, while its new remake section includes five Thai films; BIFF runs from 6 to 15 October and the Asian Contents & Film Market from 10 to 13 October.
