Abracadabra have released their new EP, Peel Away, continuing the experimental pop approach developed on their 2023 album Shapes & Colors. The core duo, Hannah Skelton and Chris Niles, say the record responds to political turmoil and social polarisation while seeking to uphold compassion rather than meet hostility with hostility; this gives its playful, collage-like sound a clear humanitarian purpose.

The six-track EP combines mutant disco, post-punk, synthpop and electronic music, with songs including ‘Into the Pail’, ‘Ice Cream’ and the title track using contrasting textures such as deep bass, distorted vocals and indie guitar. Some material originated in earlier sessions, while personnel changes led Skelton and Niles to continue working as a stripped-back “dub duo”; they describe their process as instinctive and uninhibited, treating songs as collages in which disparate elements can coexist. European live dates are also planned.
