Variety · 4 hours ago

Meg Stalter has discussed taking over the lead role in Broadway comedy “Oh, Mary!” while preparing for her first individual Emmy nomination for “Hacks”. Her 10-week run as Mary Todd Lincoln ends in September, before Bowen Yang assumes the role; Stalter said she has offered him no advice because she expects him to be excellent.

Stalter joined the production after “Hacks” ended its five-season run and received 24 Emmy nominations, including her supporting-actress nomination for Kayla. She described her version of Mary as particularly childish and physical, said she prepared by learning lines before rehearsals and working with a vocal coach, and revealed that an Emmy red-carpet look with “Hacks” co-star Paul Downs is being planned. The interview followed her partnership with Knorr on its “Ultimate Chicken Roast” campaign.

  • Stalter ends her “Oh, Mary!” run in September.
