France’s Cassandre Beaugrand claimed her fourth consecutive World Triathlon Championship Series victory in Weihai, China, pulling clear of Britain’s Beth Potter in the final kilometre of the 10km run. The Olympic champion’s win moves her above Potter to the top of the series standings despite having contested fewer races, strengthening her position before the season finale.

Beaugrand completed the race in 1:49:20, six seconds ahead of Olympic bronze medallist Potter, while Germany’s Lisa Tertsch finished 18 seconds further back in third. After emerging third from the 1,500m swim and navigating a bike leg led by a group of more than 30 riders, Beaugrand, Potter and Tertsch broke away on the run; Switzerland’s Max Studer won the men’s race in 1:41:08. One regular-season race remains in the Czech Republic on 13 September before the Grand Final in Spain on 23 September.
