iOS 27 adds AI-powered Siri app for compatible iPhones
Apple’s iOS 27 introduces a rebuilt, AI-enabled Siri and a dedicated chatbot-style app, aiming to make the assistant more capable in conversation and better at using personal context. The changes matter because Siri has long trailed competing assistants, while the new version adds richer answers, conversation history and support for attaching images or documents.
The new Siri requires iOS 27 and Apple Intelligence-compatible hardware: iPhone 15 Pro models and later, excluding the standard iPhone 15. It currently works only in English and is unavailable in the EU and China; users can enable it in Settings, access it via the Dynamic Island, side button or Siri app, and choose to retain conversation history for 30 days, one year or indefinitely. iOS 27 remains in public beta, with some users placed on a short waitlist for access.
- Siri AI arrives as a standalone conversational app.
- It requires an iPhone 15 Pro or newer.
- Availability is limited by language, region and beta status.
