Testament are aiming to begin recording their next album in summer 2027, according to singer Chuck Billy. The band already has nearly nine songs in development, suggesting it may release records more frequently than its previous four-year cycle as guitarist Eric Peterson and drummer Chris Dovas continue a productive writing partnership.

Billy said newer extreme-metal acts, including Lorna Shore, are influencing the material’s heavier and more modern elements, while Testament intends to retain its established identity. He also described experimenting with new vocal tones after 40 years in the band; the prospective album would follow 2025’s “Para Bellum”, released through Nuclear Blast.
