David and Victoria Beckham watched their son Cruz perform with his band The Breakers at Reading Festival 2026, supporting from the side of the new Canopy stage. The appearance has attracted attention because the stage has been criticised by some fans as a platform for well-connected performers, following the replacement of the long-running BBC Introducing Stage.

Cruz played a half-hour set on 29 August and is due to perform at Leeds Festival the following day. The Canopy line-up also includes Dave Grohl’s daughter Violet and Gene Gallagher’s band Villanelle, while Festival Republic says the stage is open to emerging artists from all backgrounds; Cruz released his debut EP, ‘Wear & Tear’, on 21 August.
