Bandai has announced the Tamagotchi Ring, a fully playable miniature virtual pet designed to be worn on a finger. Its colour display and compact form make it notable as the smallest working Tamagotchi so far, although its limited initial Japanese release may frustrate overseas fans.

The ring will be offered in three colourways and supports more than 30 characters to raise, using two side buttons rather than the decorative front buttons. It costs 7,700 yen (about $48), with pre-orders running from 27 August to 6 October and international reseller stock selling out quickly; release is expected in February 2027.
