Bad Wolves have been removed from an upcoming tour with Skillet, according to new singer Sara “Killboy” Skinner, who said harassment from some Skillet fans over her trans identity contributed to the decision. The band is also losing guitarist AJ Rebollo, who says he is unhappy with the label’s decision to release its cover of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” shortly after Parton’s death.

Rebollo said band members had opposed releasing the track because it could appear to exploit Parton’s death, but Better Noise Music announced it regardless. Founder John Boecklin said Parton had reportedly approved the heavy-metal version and was expected to contribute vocals before her death; proceeds from the single, due on 31 August, will be donated to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Bad Wolves are previously known for releasing their Cranberries cover “Zombie” days after Dolores O’Riordan died in 2018.
