Hands On: I Waited 13 Years to Play The Wolf Among Us 2, But I Have One Concern
Push Square previewed The Wolf Among Us 2 at Gamescom, playing a hands-off demo 13 years after the original released, with the sequel currently targeting a 2027 launch. Set six months after the first game, it pairs Fable investigator Bigby Wolf with human police officer Faye as they hunt a serial killer, forcing Bigby to decide whether to reveal the existence of magic and the Fables to her, a choice that affects both the story and their relationship. The writer came away narratively intrigued but concerned that the build shown felt notably unfinished.
The demo, played with Design Director Jess Hara Campbell and Principal Scene Coordinator Leslie Harwood, featured a new over-the-shoulder third-person view, a runic puzzle in a locked apartment, an optional auto-solve feature, and Faye offering contextual environmental clues without over-hinting. The original voice cast returns, the comic-book art style remains largely unchanged but sharper, and all episodes are said to be releasing at once rather than staggered. However, the build lacked finished VFX, used placeholder voice lines and explanatory text boxes, and one section had no graphics at all, leading the author to worry the 2027 window could slip.
