Roger Federer has been inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, calling it "one of the greatest honours" of his life during an emotional ceremony in Newport, Rhode Island. The 45-year-old, who retired in 2022 as a 20-time Grand Slam singles champion, was visibly moved as he addressed tennis greats including Billie Jean King and John McEnroe, reflecting on a career that helped redefine the modern men's game.

Federer made his professional debut in 1998 aged 16 and went on to win a men's-record eight Wimbledon titles, six Australian Opens, five US Opens and one French Open, spending a record 310 weeks as world number one before Novak Djokovic surpassed him. Only Djokovic (24 majors) and Rafael Nadal (22) have won more Grand Slam singles titles. Federer also thanked his wife Mirka and idol Stefan Edberg, lightening the mood with anecdotes about wearing more than 5,000 headbands and 7,000 pairs of socks during his career.
