Phasmophobia’s second Quality of Life update adds Restricted maps, VR fixes, and much creepier deaths

Eurogamer · 2 hours ago

Kinetic Games has released the second Quality of Life update for Phasmophobia, its popular co-op ghost-hunting horror game, adding new "Restricted" versions of several maps, streamlining evidence collection, fixing VR issues, and making player deaths noticeably more unsettling. The update is now live on PC and PlayStation, with an Xbox release still to follow, and builds on the first Quality of Life update from July, which overhauled the 13 Willow Street map.

The new patch introduces smaller, condensed Restricted maps for the Prison, Brownstone High School and Point Hope locations, designed to speed up investigations and add variety. Evidence collection has also been simplified: players can now check whether evidence has been logged directly via faded overlays and yellow LEDs on their Photo Camera, Video Camera or Sound Recorder, while evidence and ghost types picked by teammates are now visible to the whole team. VR players get a more responsive character rig, and dying now greys out a player's skin, mists their eyes and instantly cuts their voice chat. The update follows Kinetic Games' recent confirmation that Phasmophobia's full 1.0 launch has been delayed from 2026 to 2027, after the studio apologised for a rocky "Player Character Update" it admitted had "missed the mark".
