Ned Luke, the actor who plays Michael De Santa in Grand Theft Auto 5, has hit back at fans who claim Grand Theft Auto 6 looks too similar to its predecessor. Speaking to YouTube channels Partychat and House of Highlights, Luke dismissed such comparisons as unfounded, arguing that critics questioning GTA 6's graphical leap are "out of their minds." The comments follow debate that emerged after Rockstar's GTA 6 Extended Look last week, in which some viewers felt the gameplay of new protagonists Jason and Lucia resembled GTA 5 too closely, despite 13 years separating the two titles.

Luke pointed to specific improvements, including more natural character movement compared with the "mechanical" walk cycles of GTA 5, and highlighted the detail in vehicles and explosions shown in the footage. He also pushed back on claims that GTA 6 fails to surpass 2018's Red Dead Redemption 2 visually, insisting its graphics are superior. Luke, who does not appear to feature in GTA 6's cast, has previously defended the game publicly, including praising the introduction of playable character Lucia in 2024. GTA 6 is due for release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 19 November 2026.
