Wrexham are set to sign Burnley centre-back Joe Worrall as manager Phil Parkinson looks to shore up a defence that has failed to keep a clean sheet in any of its opening four matches this season. The move comes ahead of Tuesday's transfer deadline and follows a difficult start for the newly promoted Championship side, who are yet to win in any competition in 2026-27 and have shipped what Parkinson called "two of the softest goals" of his tenure in a recent defeat by Birmingham City.

Worrall, 29, has been an unused substitute in all three of Burnley's league games this season under new boss Nicky Hayen, having made 27 appearances for the club since joining from Nottingham Forest in 2024. His arrival could open the door for England international Conor Coady, who has not featured in any Wrexham squad this season, to leave the club, while Elliot Lee, Harry Ashfield and Aaron James are also among those who may depart in the closing days of the window. Wrexham have already added five players this summer and could yet bring in another forward before deadline day, with Parkinson's side next in action away at Millwall on Wednesday.
