Fable Won’t Demand Over 100 Hours of Your Time on PS5
Playground Games has confirmed that its upcoming Fable reboot will offer a more modest playtime than many modern RPGs, avoiding the sprawling 100-plus-hour experiences that have become common in the genre. Associate game director Will Kennedy told Polygon that the main questline runs to roughly 15-20 hours, with a further 15-20 hours of side quests and open-world exploration on offer for those who want more, keeping the game broadly in line with the length of the original Fable trilogy.
The game does include life-simulation elements, such as marrying townsfolk and buying houses, which game director Craig Littler said could theoretically be played "forever" by those who fully engage with them. However, for players focused purely on story content, completion times are expected to sit well below those of sprawling titles such as Fallout. Fable is due for release in February 2027, alongside other major titles including God of War Laufey and Persona 4 Revival, meaning its shorter length could prove an advantage amid a crowded release window.
- Fable's main story takes 15-20 hours to complete
- Full completion with side content roughly doubles that
