Zurich Film Festival has confirmed eleven additional gala premieres for its 2026 edition, rounding out a lineup already stacked with awards-season contenders. Headline additions include Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz's Venice-bound thriller Bunker, Jordan Firstman's Cannes breakout Club Kid (acquired by A24 after a fiercely contested bidding war) and Danny Boyle's Rupert Murdoch drama Ink, which opens the Venice festival with Jack O'Connell, Guy Pearce and Claire Foy. The additions cement Zurich's growing reputation as a late-season stop for high-profile titles moving between Cannes, Venice and the wider awards circuit.
The expanded slate also spans several premieres and genres, including Lauren Miller Rogen's comedy Babies with Seth Rogen, Anna Kendrick and Sharon Stone; John Turturro's crime drama The Only Living Pickpocket in New York; and world premieres such as Frauke Finsterwalder's Eurotrash, Enkelejd Lluca's Albanian boxing drama Blood Money, Ali Asgari's A Bit of Light, Fred Cavayé's Les Misérables and Mario Bechis's Back to Buenos Aires. Festival director Reta Guetg said the additions bring "outstanding voices and stories from different parts of the world" and highlighted Alex Schulmann's Adult Supervision as a potential Swedish Oscar contender. The 2026 Zurich Film Festival runs from 24 September to 4 October.

Bunker, Club Kid and Ink are films that have caught attention on the festival circuit this year and are now heading to Zurich. Bunker is a thriller starring Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz, Club Kid is a comedy from director Jordan Firstman that drew strong interest from distributors after screening at Cannes, and Ink is a drama about media tycoon Rupert Murdoch, directed by Danny Boyle and featuring actors Jack O'Connell, Guy Pearce and Claire Foy.
The Zurich Film Festival is an annual event in Switzerland that showcases new films, often ahead of their wider release, and this year's edition runs from 24 September to 4 October 2026. Festivals like Zurich matter because they help build buzz for films before major awards season, and securing high-profile titles fresh from Cannes or bound for Venice, another leading festival, signals a festival's growing status among filmmakers and audiences alike.
The films now joining the Zurich lineup form part of a broader group of eleven new additions, covering a range of genres, countries and directors, alongside comedies, crime dramas and several films receiving their first-ever screenings. This mix reflects how festivals curate a varied programme intended to appeal to different audiences while also positioning some titles as contenders for major prizes later in the year.
