Chesterfield have signed Sheffield United striker Louie Marsh on a season-long loan, giving the League Two club extra attacking depth for the campaign ahead. The 22-year-old is a product of United's academy, where he has made six first-team appearances and scored once, and the move offers him the regular football he has previously sought through loan spells elsewhere.

Marsh has previously had loan spells at Doncaster Rovers and Fleetwood Town, and spent the second half of last season at Scottish Premiership club Falkirk, recording a goal and two assists in nine appearances. Speaking to Chesterfield's club website, he described joining "a massive club with big aspirations" and said he hoped to play immediately, while assistant manager Danny Webb welcomed his experience for his age and the attacking threat he brings to the squad.

Sheffield United is Louie Marsh's parent club, where the 22-year-old striker came through the academy but has had limited first-team chances. Loan spells are a common arrangement in English football, allowing young players to gain regular match experience at other clubs while remaining registered with their original team.

Chesterfield play in League Two, English football's fourth tier, and are looking to bolster their attacking options as the season progresses. Marsh has previously gone out on loan to Doncaster Rovers, Fleetwood Town and Falkirk in Scotland, building up experience away from Bramall Lane before this latest move.
