Brighton agree £15m deal for Millwall winger Azeez

BBC Sport · 3 hours ago

Brighton have agreed a deal to sign Nigeria winger Femi Azeez from Millwall, ending a lengthy pursuit after the Championship club rejected at least three earlier bids from the Seagulls. The move, which would be a club record sale for Millwall, reflects Azeez's breakout form last season and continues Brighton's busy summer of Premier League recruitment funded by significant player sales.

Azeez, 25, scored 11 goals and added eight assists in 37 games last season, earning a place in the PFA Championship team of the year, having joined Millwall from Reading for around £1m in 2024. Millwall are set to receive an initial £12.5m, potentially rising above £15m with add-ons, for a player who had recently been dropped from matchday squads and was also attracting interest from Wrexham. The signing would be Brighton's 11th of the summer, following deals such as the £45m capture of Luka Vuskovic, and is partly funded by sales including Carlos Baleba's £70m move to Manchester United; it will also free winger Amario Cozier-Duberry to join Middlesbrough on loan.

  • Brighton agree deal to sign Millwall winger Femi Azeez.
  • Deal worth an initial £12.5m, potentially rising past £15m.
  • Azeez's exit paves way for Cozier-Duberry's loan to Middlesbrough.
