Western Australian Police allege they found methamphetamine concealed inside a McMuffin during a vehicle search in Broome, in what officers described as one of the more bizarre drug-hiding attempts they have encountered. A 39-year-old man was pulled over on Salleh Street in Cable Beach after allegedly being seen leaving a house under surveillance as part of an ongoing drugs investigation, and was subsequently arrested and charged.

Body-camera footage showed an officer searching a takeaway food bag before discovering a partially eaten bacon and egg McMuffin containing a clip-sealed bag of the drug. Police allege about three and a half grams of methamphetamine were hidden between the layers of the sandwich, which Senior Constable Ben Lucas said "caught us all by surprise" and marked the first time officers had found drugs concealed in fast food. The arrested man, from Derby, has been charged with possession of a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply and is due in court on 9 September; a woman also in the vehicle was questioned but released without charge.
