Best Sony Headphone Deals: WH-1000XM5 and More (2026)
Wired's deals roundup highlights a discount on the Sony WH-1000XM5, an older flagship noise-cancelling headphone model, now available for $198, a $202 saving. The publication notes this is the lowest price it has tracked for the model, positioning it as a strong buy for shoppers even though Sony has since released the newer WH-1000XM6. The XM5 remain well regarded for their comfortable, understated design, spacious sound and strong noise cancellation, making the cut price notable for those seeking premium headphones without paying full price.
Alongside the flagship discount, the article flags cheaper Sony options for budget-conscious buyers. The entry-level WH-CH520, untested by Wired, is on sale for $38, while the WH-CH720N is discounted by 47 percent and offers strong sound and noise cancellation plus long battery life, up to 35 hours with active noise cancellation on and 50 hours with it off, despite lacking the premium build and case of the 1000 series.
In short
- Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones discounted to $198, a $202 saving
- Budget WH-CH520 model on sale for $38
- WH-CH720N cut by 47%, offers strong battery life
Explained simply
Sony’s WH-1000X headphones are its premium over-ear range, designed to reduce surrounding noise and make listening more comfortable in busy places. The WH-1000XM5 is an earlier model in the range; Sony has since introduced the WH-1000XM6.
Sony also sells less expensive headphones, including the WH-CH520 and the noise-cancelling WH-CH720N. These models offer different features and levels of build quality, so the choice depends on what a buyer needs and how much they want to spend.
Headphone deals matter because prices can vary widely between models and over time. Comparing older premium headphones with cheaper options can help shoppers weigh sound, noise cancellation, battery life and comfort against cost.
