Capcom quietly releases new trailers for Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance, teasing changes to how all 14 weapon types
Capcom has begun quietly releasing daily trailers detailing changes coming to each of Monster Hunter Wilds' 14 weapon types in the 2027 expansion Ascendance, after previously suggesting more details would only surface at the Tokyo Game Show later this month. The videos centre on a new system called "Boosted Actions", which introduces the Boost Bracer, a hunting action that adds new combos and enhanced attacks across every weapon class, pushing players towards a faster, more aggressive playstyle.
Players build Boost Bracer energy through aggressive attacking, then trigger Boosted mode via a Boost Driver attack or weapon-specific actions, with three apparent ways to enter the state: a slow but powerful Brace Boost, a stance-switching Quick Boost, or a specific combo chain. Early footage shows standout moves such as an easier "perfect guard" and a Hammer-based shoryuken-style attack, a Charge Blade counter move, and a new aerial moveset for the Great Sword. Capcom plans one video per weapon each day until 15th September, coinciding with the start of TGS; Monster Hunter Wilds is out now on PS5, Xbox Series and PC, with a Switch 2 version in the works and Ascendance due in 2027.
