AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson has named The Sensational Alex Harvey Band's late singer Alex Harvey as one of the most gifted lyricists he has ever encountered, praising the fearless and unconventional style that helped shape his own approach to songwriting. Johnson, better known for his raw, powerful vocal delivery inspired by Little Richard and for fronting AC/DC after Bon Scott's death, looked beyond typical rock and roll influences to find his own voice, and it was Harvey's boldness and originality that left a lasting impression on him.

Before joining AC/DC, Johnson honed his style with his earlier band Geordie, competing against glam-era acts influenced by David Bowie and Marc Bolan. He singled out Harvey's songs such as "The Faith Healer", "Hammer Song", "Sergeant Fury" and "Boston Tea Party" as classics, saying Harvey "had no fear whatsoever". Johnson has credited that same fearless, raw energy with informing his own delivery on AC/DC anthems such as "For Those About to Rock".
