A first-look preview has been released for "Fortitude," an upcoming World War II film starring Nicolas Cage and Ben Kingsley that dramatises Operation Fortitude, the Allied deception campaign that helped secure the success of the D-Day landings. The preview dropped on a Wednesday, and interest in the project stems from the enduring fascination with the ingenious ruse that misled German forces ahead of the Normandy invasion.

Operation Fortitude was designed to convince the Germans that the main Allied invasion of Western Europe would strike at Pas-de-Calais rather than Normandy, using fake vehicles, phantom armies and other deception tactics. It is regarded as one of the most effective ploys in military history, giving Allied troops landing on the Normandy beaches a crucial advantage. "Fortitude" is expected to be released sometime in 2026, though no official release date has yet been confirmed.
