Ethan Hawke Reveals He’s Teaming Up With Scott Derrickson on a New Horror Movie After ‘Black Phone 2’
Actor Ethan Hawke has confirmed he is developing a new horror project with director Scott Derrickson, the collaborator behind his roles in Sinister and The Black Phone. Speaking to Polygon while promoting his upcoming film The Weight, Hawke gave few details but said the pair are "working on something right now", reigniting speculation about the future of their shared horror universe.
Hawke and Derrickson previously worked together on 2012's Sinister and 2021's The Black Phone, with Derrickson also directing 2025's Black Phone 2. Fans have speculated this could mean a Black Phone 3, though Derrickson and writer C. Robert Cargill have previously been noncommittal about a third instalment, saying they would need a strong enough idea first. Hawke's original Sinister character did not return for its poorly received 2015 sequel, leaving open the possibility this new project is something entirely different. The Weight is due in cinemas on 18 September.
