New PUBG Game Is About ‘Hijinks’ and ‘A Beer With the Boys’

Krafton unveiled PUBG: Dednet, a new multiplayer shooter set in the PUBG universe, during Gamescom 2026's Opening Night Live showcase. Creative director Dave Curd, a nine-year veteran of PUBG Studios, explained the game is a multiplayer FPS roguelite that departs sharply from PUBG's single-match, "may the best man win" format, instead offering faster-paced action and persistent progression across a series of matches known as a "run".

Players gather strange abilities and injuries between matches to build their character, with bizarre powers shown including replacing arms with machete blades, transforming into a doll with a drill arm, and a wall-penetrating vision ability called "peekaboo". Matches begin via a "wake 100" system, where players choose from scenarios such as waking in a body bag, being dropped from a helicopter or emerging from a box underwater; the developers currently have around five such scenarios but aim to expand to 100. Players can also see rivals' chosen start points before a match begins, allowing tactical decisions about where to drop.
