Lego has confirmed a new set replicating Sony's original 1995 PlayStation console, announced during a State of Play livestream. It follows the success of Lego's Nintendo console sets and its Sega Genesis kit, marking the first time the toy brand has recreated PlayStation hardware, though it has previously partnered with the games franchise on other sets.

The 1,911-piece build is designed to near 1:1 scale, measuring 10.5 inches wide once complete, and includes a replica controller with functioning mechanical buttons. It also hides two smaller dioramas inside, one depicting Ape Escape with a colour-changeable helmet light, and another recreating a Gran Turismo track with miniature cars. The Lego PlayStation goes on sale on 1 October, priced at $180.
