Lenovo unveils sub-10mm AeroBlade laptop with solid-state cooling
Lenovo has unveiled Project AeroBlade, a concept laptop debuting at IFA 2026 that ditches traditional fans in favour of solid-state cooling, resulting in an unusually thin and light design. The 14-inch machine uses Frore's AirJet technology, which pushes air through the chassis using piezoelectric membranes rather than moving parts, making the laptop nearly as quiet as a fanless MacBook Air while still offering active cooling. It matters because AirJet has so far only appeared in niche devices, and a partnership with a major manufacturer like Lenovo could push solid-state cooling closer to mainstream laptops.
The AeroBlade is under 10mm thick and weighs less than 830g, considerably slimmer and lighter than Lenovo's own ThinkPad X1 Carbon. As a concept, its specifications are limited, currently featuring an Intel Lunar Lake chip, Thunderbolt 4 ports, Wi-Fi 7 and an OLED display, though Lenovo says a production version would likely use a newer processor. The fanless design also means no vents on the underside, which should reduce dust ingress and benefit the laptop's longevity if it reaches the market.
