Switch Online Just Got One of Nintendo’s Greatest Racing Games of All Time
Nintendo has added three more NES titles to its Switch Online library, and among them, R.C. Pro-Am 2 stands out as arguably the pick of the bunch. The new additions—Ninja Gaiden 3: The Ancient Ship of Doom, Ikari Warriors and R.C. Pro-Am 2—span different genres, but the racing sequel from developer Rare is being singled out as an underrated classic worth revisiting, offering a fun multiplayer experience even decades after its original release.
Developed by Rare (now known for Sea of Thieves and Banjo-Kazooie) and published by Tradewest, R.C. Pro-Am 2 built on the original NES racer by fixing its main flaws: it added greater track variety across three settings (grassland, city and desert), a money-based upgrade shop for engines, tyres and weapons, and support for up to four players via the multitap accessory. The game spans 32 courses and includes bonus multiplayer modes such as tug-of-war and drag races, with online play now available through Switch Online for those wanting to experience it with others.
