Britain's Harriet Dart was knocked out of the US Open in the second round, losing 6-2 6-2 to Czech 25th seed Marie Bouzkova while battling illness and hot conditions in New York. Dart said she had felt "under the weather" with a temperature, and used ice towels and cold-air hoses to cope with temperatures of around 30C, though she credited Bouzkova as a tough opponent regardless of her own condition. The result leaves Fran Jones as the only remaining British player in either singles draw, with Jones due to face 14th seed Iva Jovic later on Thursday.

Dart, ranked 131st in the world, was troubled on serve throughout, hitting eight double faults and landing just 45% of first serves as Bouzkova reeled off seven games in a row to take the first set and raced into a double break in the second. Bouzkova progresses to face Polish eighth seed Iga Swiatek in the third round. Dart's exit follows fellow Briton Katie Boulter's swift second-round defeat by Karolina Muchova, while in the men's draw Jacob Fearnley and Toby Samuel also lost in round two, and Cameron Norrie, Arthur Fery, Harry Wendelken and Jan Choinski were eliminated in the first round.
