Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found shot dead in Ecclesall Woods in Sheffield, South Yorkshire Police have said. The victim, who has not yet been identified, was discovered by a member of the public on Wednesday evening in the woodland, a site popular with joggers, dog walkers and families, prompting a murder investigation by the force.

A post-mortem examination confirmed the man died as a result of a gunshot wound, with his body found at around 18:46 BST. A 34-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man were arrested in Manchester on Thursday and remain in police custody. Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles described the incident as "devastating" and said the investigation was in its early stages, appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
