Percy Jackson Author Is Getting Another Disney Plus Fantasy Series

Rick Riordan is developing a television adaptation of his Kane Chronicles book series for Disney Plus, expanding his fantasy franchise beyond the successful Percy Jackson and the Olympians show. The series has not yet been formally ordered, but Riordan will write it alongside executive producer and writer Angela Robinson, known for True Blood, The L Word and Wednesday, whose company 20th Television will produce. The project builds on Disney's existing relationship with Riordan following Percy Jackson's critical success and Emmy wins, and follows Egyptian mythology rather than the Greek myths of his earlier work.
The Kane Chronicles trilogy, published between 2010 and 2012, follows siblings Carter and Sadie Kane, descendants of pharaohs Narmer and Ramses the Great, who must master inherited magic and navigate warring Egyptian gods after their father unleashes the god of chaos. Riordan will work again with Percy Jackson producer Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Jeremy Bell, alongside his wife and creative partner Rebecca Riordan; the project was previously in development as a Netflix film before that deal lapsed and Disney acquired the rights. Percy Jackson and the Olympians' third season is due on Disney Plus on 20 November 2026.

Rick Riordan is a bestselling American author whose fantasy novels for young readers blend mythology with modern-day adventure. His Percy Jackson and the Olympians books, built around Greek mythology, were adapted into a Disney Plus television series that has won praise from critics and several Emmy awards. That success has made Disney keen to develop more of his work for the platform.
The story concerns a possible new show based on Riordan's Kane Chronicles, a trilogy published between 2010 and 2012 that draws on Egyptian mythology rather than Greek myths. It centres on Carter and Sadie Kane, two siblings descended from ancient pharaohs who discover they must control inherited magical powers after their father accidentally releases a dangerous god of chaos. The project would mark Riordan's first screen adaptation outside the Percy Jackson universe.
The series is not yet formally confirmed, but Riordan is attached to write it, alongside experienced television producer and writer Angela Robinson. It would also reunite him with some of the producers behind Percy Jackson. The Kane Chronicles was previously being developed as a film for Netflix before that deal fell through and the rights moved to Disney, and the news comes as Percy Jackson's own third season is due to air on Disney Plus later this year.
