Dylan O'Brien's 2020 post-apocalyptic adventure "Love and Monsters" has begun streaming on Paramount+ after joining the platform on 1 September, offering audiences a lighter, more hopeful take on the genre than typical zombie or survival fare. Directed by Michael Matthews, the film distinguishes itself by combining a monster-filled wasteland with comedy and romance, following Joel (O'Brien) as he journeys across dangerous territory to reunite with his high school sweetheart Aimee (Jessica Henwick), who he had assumed was lost after monsters forced humanity underground.

The film, which also stars Michael Rooker, Ariana Greenblatt and Dan Ewing, was a strong critical and commercial success on release, holding a 94% critics' score and 89% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and it earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects. Despite this acclaim and ongoing fan interest, no sequel has been made, leaving it as a standalone film that has nonetheless built a lasting following since its debut.
