A wildlife park worker was mauled by a crocodile in front of horrified onlookers at Adventure Park in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, after entering the animal's enclosure. Footage of the attack showed the crocodile clamping its jaws around the man's legs while he lay half submerged and motionless in the pool, prompting a bystander to pass a pole through the enclosure fence for him to cling to. The incident, which occurred on Saturday afternoon, has drawn renewed scrutiny of the park's animal-handling practices.

Emergency services attended the scene and police shot the crocodile to free the worker, who was taken to 3 Mile General Hospital for treatment; the severity of his injuries has not been disclosed.
