A 20-year-old man, Jamie Evans, has died after being stabbed following a car crash in Newcastle-under-Lyme, prompting his family to pay tribute to his "zest for life". Three men have been arrested in connection with his death, which is being treated as murder, as police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Evans, from Stone, was involved in a collision between his red Ford Fiesta and a grey Audi on Orme Road on Friday 4 September, and was found with stab wounds before members of the public went to his aid. He later died in hospital despite medical efforts to save him. A 20-year-old and a 22-year-old man, both from the Newcastle-under-Lyme area, have been arrested on suspicion of murder, while a 19-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder; all three remain in custody. His family described him as passionate about cricket and fitness, and thanked the public who tried to help him, while Staffordshire Police urged anyone with information to come forward.
