Actor William Fichtner has said he has never regretted turning down film or television roles, even lucrative ones, if the material crossed personal boundaries he refuses to breach. Speaking to Fox News Digital, the 69-year-old explained that his decisions are guided by instinct and belief in a project rather than pay, and that he doesn't view his selectivity as a point of pride but simply a practical way of avoiding work he wouldn't do justice to.

The comments came as Fichtner promoted the finale of Apple TV's miniseries "Lucky," in which he plays Wayne Whittaker opposite Anya Taylor-Joy's Luciana "Lucky" Armstrong. He praised Taylor-Joy's performance in their climactic showdown, filmed over five days in gruelling desert heat near Los Angeles. Fichtner, best known for playing FBI agent Alexander Mahone in "Prison Break" (2006–2009), also reflected on the different demands of preparing for a limited series compared with a long-running show with unpredictable, evolving storylines.
