Richard Osman Teases ‘We Solve Murders’ Series Adaptation In Works At Netflix

Deadline · 8 hours ago

Author Richard Osman has hinted that his 2024 crime novel We Solve Murders is being developed as a television series at Netflix, a year after the streamer adapted his earlier bestseller The Thursday Murder Club. Speaking on BBC's The One Show, Osman was coy but confirmed work was under way, saying "that's what we're up to at the moment with our friends at Netflix", underlining the pair's growing creative partnership beyond his original Thursday Murder Club series.

Netflix first acquired the rights to We Solve Murders in February 2024, ahead of the book's publication that September, with Osman revealing the deal on ITV's This Morning at the time. The novel follows private security operative Amy Wheeler, who is protecting bestselling author Rosie D'Antonio on a remote island when a body and a bag of money appear, prompting her to enlist her retired detective father-in-law, Steve Wheeler, to help solve the case. The update arrives as Osman prepares to publish the sequel, We Chase Shadows, on 15 September.
